Undergraduate Student News 2018

Music Majors

The department graduated seven music majors over commencement weekend, including four double majors: Shay Moses Collins, who earned magna cum laude honors for his thesis on the construction of Julius Eastman’s legacy; Meredith Glaze (Psychology), who will start a M.Ed. program in School Counseling at the University of Maryland, College Park; Hannah Krall, who will pursue a Ph.D. in historical musicology at Duke University; Luis Lezcano, who plans to attend law school; Scott Marks (Computer Science), who will work in the software engineering industry; Ju Hwan Park (Physics), who directed Last Call, an award-winning, all-male a cappella group at Cornell; and Nathan Weierich (Government), who performed with the Cornell University Glee Club for four years.

Music Minors

Twenty-one students earned a Music Minor this year, demonstrating their commitment to engage with musical theories, materials, and techniques, the study of music in history and culture, and performance while continuing studies in their major. Some were constant members of our ensembles, some were solo performers, and some engaged through musicology or composition.

We congratulate our minors of the class of 2018: Ethan Anderson (Law and Society, Business), Joshua Chan (Computer Science), Alana Crognale (Electrical and Computer Engineering), Paul DeVito (Computer Science), Julian Eng (Computer Science), Emily Jaye (Psychology), Anita Jegarl (Human Development), Yung-Yi Lan (Environmental and Sustainability Sciences), Judy Lee (Policy Analysis and Management), Adam Lefkowitz (Government, Philosophy),  Taylor Levy (Applied Economics and Management), Victor Lucena (Computer Science), Brigid Lucey (Latin American Studies, Spanish), Grace Lyman (Communication), Julia Magee (Material Science and Engineering), Jae Woong Noh (Economics), Bennett Norman (Computer Science), Ezra Pak-Harvey (Chemistry), Avram Pinals (Biological Sciences), Thomas Valerio (Biological Sciences), and Briget Williams (Economics).
