Moura Accepts Position at University of Miami

Cibele Moura (PhD, Music and Sound Studies, 2025) has accepted a tenure-track assistant professorship at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. In her first semester this fall, she will teach Experiencing Music and Music of Latin America.

At Cornell, Moura received the Rosenthal Graduate Student Award from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Donald J. Grout Memorial Prize, in recognition of her exceptional dissertation. That thesis, "Listening to the Obscene: The Politics of Music and Sound in Latin America,” surveyed the sonic history of obscenity in the region: how it has been made audible, how it has been judged, how it functions as a tool of social distinction.

Congratulations to Professor Moura!
