Piekut Book Wins Prize in Japan

The Japanese-language version of Professor Benjamin Piekut’s Henry Cow: The World Is a Problem has been awarded a prize. Originally published in English in 2019, the book saw its Japanese publication, in a translation by Yoshiyuki Sugawa, in the year 2023.

Founded in 2022 by a committee of musicologists and publishers, the ONGAKU-BON-TAISYOU prize (Music Book Award) recognizes six to eight books per year for how effectively they might change the way readers listen to or make music. Piekut’s Henry Cow: The World Is a Problem was nominated by the prominent musician and journalist Tadahiko Yokogawa. In his endorsement of the book, Yokogawa wrote, "An enormous amount of interviews and documents stuffed into 500 pages. A masterpiece.”
