Peraino article awarded by the American Musicological Society

Professor Judith Peraino has been awarded a double accolade at the annual meeting of the American Musicological Society: her article “I’ll Be Your Mixtape: Lou Reed, Andy Warhol, and the Queer Intimacies of Cassettes” received both the H. Colin Slim Award (“for a musicological article of exceptional merit published in any language and in any country by a scholar who is past the early stages of her or his career”) and the Philip Brett Award (“for exceptional musicological work in the field of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender/transsexual studies”).

The article stems from Peraino's discovery of a dozen previously unreleased Lou Reed songs on the back of a casette tape, found in the archives of the Andy Warhol Museum. This discovery has been featured by the Cornell Chronicle, as well as a variety of other publications, including the Washington Post and Rolling Stone
