Papalexandri Artist-in-Residence at the Instrument Inventors Institution in The Hague

Assistant Professor Marianthi Papalexandri has been nominated for a residency at the Instrument Inventors Institution in The Hague, Netherlands.  Over the last 11 years, Papalexandri has developed a variety of new mechanical electro-acoustic instruments. During her residency at the Instrument Inventors Institution, Papalexandri will be working on a solo work for a motor driven instrument that she created in collaboration with kinetic artist Pe Lang. The work will be premiered by Papalexandri on Saturday, October 12, 2019.   

Instrument Inventors Institution (iii) is an artist-run-platform for research, production, presentation and distribution of radical interdisciplinary practices based in The Hague. iii promotes artistic research and creation centered around the development of self-made instruments and performative media, which engages the dimensions of image, sound, space, and the body. Inventing new instruments and presentation formats, iii brings the laboratory to the stage and offers unique, playful experiences to all audiences.

iii promotes The Hague as an international center of excellence in the field of experimental sound and media art. Through the residency program, iii invites to The Hague some of the most internationally established artists and exceptional young talents in this field.
