Cornell student receives ASCAP Foundation award

Earlier this month, the ASCAP Foundation announced the 20 winning composers in its 2020 Morton Gould Young Composer Awards. Among the recipients is Cornell graduate composer Piyawat Louilarpprasert, who was recognized for his 2019 saxophone concerto, Pixels

In announcing the awards, ASCAP Foundation President Paul Williams remarked, “Every year, it is a pleasure for The ASCAP Foundation to get to know and recognize the young music creators who are selected as Morton Gould Young Composer Awards recipients. We congratulate them on their success and thank our dedicated panel of ASCAP members who selected the composers from nearly 520 submissions."

This is Piyawat's second Morton Gould Young Composer Award, having been previously recognized in 2018 for his orchestral work, Particle Odyssey.
