World Music and Percussion Ensembles

Gamelan Ensemble (MUSIC 4641):  Advanced performance on the Indonesian gamelan.  Prerequisite:  MUSIC 1341 (245), previous experience playing in musical ensembles, or permission of instructor.  Chris Miller

Middle Eastern Music Ensemble (MUSIC 3614):  Performance of diverse musical traditions from the Middle East and Mediterranean.  Instruction in individual instruments and group rehearsals; songs taught in several languages.  Martin Hatch and Gail Holst-Warhaft (advisors), Atakan Sari (director)

Steel Band (MUSIC 3613):  Performs traditional music from Trinidad for steel pans, including calypso and soca, as well as repertory expanding the boundaries of the instruments.  Tim Feeney
