Faculty
As of 2008-2009 the Department of Music has twenty full-time and eight part-time faculty members, as well as two active emeritus professors, including internationally known scholars, composers, and performers. The faculty is augmented from time to time by distinguished visiting performers, composers, and scholars.
Staff
The five-member staff of the Music Department may be found in 101 Lincoln Hall. This office suite also houses the staff for the Cornell Concert Series.
Graduate Students
The Graduate Field of Music generally matriculates six students per year to its three programs (musicology, composition, and performance practice). There are approximately twenty-five to thirty graduate students in residence in any given year.
Undergraduate Students
Over two thousand undergraduates per year from across the campus take courses in the Music Department or perform in its ensembles. There are approximately twenty music majors at any one time and many students minor in music.
