Wind Ensemble returns to Costa Rica for service and concerts | Mon Oct 12, 2009

In 2006 and 2008, the Cornell University Wind Ensemble (CU Winds) toured in Costa Rica. In addition to numerous performances around the country, members of the Wind Ensemble gave individual instruction and group lessons to Costa Rican children studying music in rural areas.  CU Winds has donated over 100 instruments to these music schools in Matapalo, San Isidro, and Poas.

The Wind Ensemble returns to Costa Rica in January 2010, with performances planned in Limon, San Isidro, Poas, Desamparados, and San Jose. CU Winds is actively seeking donations of instruments to take on its third tour to the country. CU Winds has also partnered with SiNEM, Costa Rica's new national system of music education.
